JD Sports is a brand of the JD Group, which is nowadays the undisputed leader in sportswear and sports footwear retail in the United Kingdom. JD sets trends thanks to its limited editions, exclusive designs and partnerships with renowned brands.

It all began in 1981, when John Wardle and David Makin opened a shop in Bury with their initials. Meanwhile, through new internal openings and the acquisition of several brands in fashion and sports, the JD Group now has over 800 shops, in 13 countries. In January 2018, the Iberian Sports Retail Group was created, with Sport Zone, Sprinter and Size?.

Size? is a brand of the JD Group that always presents the latest releases by the most relevant footwear, fashion and streetwear accessories brands.

This brand was created with the goal of testing the most avant-garde collections of the brands, before their definitive release into the market. However, its growing notoriety allowed the creation of its own range of exclusive releases, only available in its shops.

Its first shop opened in 2000 and it currently owns over 35 shops across Europe. In January 2018, it became part of the Iberian Sports Retail Group, alongside JD, Sport Zone and Sprinter.

Sport Zone, which began its activity in 1997, is one of the largest sports retail companies in Portugal, standing out because of its wide offer of fashion articles and sports footwear, by internationally acknowledges brands, at competitive prices.

In 2018, Sport Zone, together with three other sports retail brands – JD, Sprinter and Size? – formed the Iberian Sports Retail Group (ISRG), the second largest sports retail operator in the Iberian Peninsula, with an estimated market share of +11% reached by chain of over 300 shops and a team of more than 6,000 professionals.

Sprinter is a meeting point for people who live for sports. With over 3,000 employees, Sprinter operates in the trade and supply of fashion, footwear and sports accessories, in over 128 sales points in Spain.

Sprinter was founded by the Segarra family in 1995. In 2011, JD Sports entered its share capital, creating SprinterJD Group and, during 2015, the current brand philosophy, "Deportivamente”, was created to bring sports values into life. In January 2018, it became part of the Iberian Sports Retail Group, alongside Sport Zone, JD and Size?.
