Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index now includes Sonae, recognising the Group’s transparency and good practices in matters of gender equality.
Sonae was selected to be included in the global Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), which comprises 418 listed companies, from 45 countries and regions, recognised by their transparency and good practices in the promotion of gender equality.
Sonae reached a global score of 78%, above the 71% average among the companies selected to be included in the index. The Group stood out particularly in the categories of "female leadership and talent pipeline”, "equal pay & gender pay parity”, and also for the efforts developed in terms of "inclusive culture”.
João Günther Amaral, Deputy to the Executive Committee at Sonae, commented, "At Sonae, gender equality translates as a balance of rights, freedom, and opportunities. In 2019, we committed to reach 39% leadership positions held by women until 2023. This goal implies acting right now at different career stages of our female employees. The inclusion in this global reference index is an important recognition of the progress we have already achieved and has thus strengthened our confidence to follow this path towards equality.”
Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg, said, "We are proud to recognise Sonae and the other 417 companies included in the 2022 GEI for their commitment to transparency and setting a new standard in gender-related data reporting.”
The Bloomberg Gender-Index 2022 measures five pillars: female leadership & talent pipeline, equal pay & gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies, and pro-women brand. Only the companies that reach a global threshold score in terms of performance, disclosure and implementation of the best practices and policies towards gender equality are reflected in the Index, such as Sonae.
